The International Alliance of inhabitants is preparing, after the World Social Forum 2004, the following activities :
Zero Evictions! Specially the campaign Viva Nairobi Viva! In coordination with local associations. This campaign has been successful in blocking the eviction of some 354.000 inhabitants of the Nairobi slums.
Social production of habitat: This campaign wants to promote the defeat of public and social housing shortage, prioritising the use of territorial, social, cultural, ecological and productive variables. Thus, local governments has been requested to make concrete the city right, because if we do not propose the restoration of the built city, we shall not improve the life quality of the planet inhabitants.
Participative budget: specially the support to the demand of abolition of the external debt, in exchange of urban public policies and policies on lodgment.
The constitution of the Urban People’s University, aiming to train a new type of militant inhabitants, impregnated by grassroots’ networks while at the same time conscious of global challenges concerning the cities.
The organization of some workshops at the America’s Social Forum (Quito, July 25-30th, 2004) and the Urban World Forum (Barcelona, September 13-17th 2004), concerning all these issues
