- Washington, D.C., USA: 32nd Annual Letelier-Moffitt Human Rights Awards
Join the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS) on October 15, 2008 in honoring champions of human rights in the US and abroad. The IPS proudly presents the 32nd Annual Letelier-Moffitt Human Rights Awards. Awards will be attributed to the Indian Workers’ Congress, and Francisco Soberón and the Asociación Pro-Derechos Humanos (APRODEH) of Peru for their courageous advocacy of human rights. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and the program wraps up with desserts and coffee at 8:30 pm. You are also invited to stay and watch the Presidential Debate with us beginning at 9 pm.

The World Movement for Global Democracy (WMGD) invites your participation at the 5th Global Symposium 2008, “Awakening Planetary Consciousness” from December 12 to 15, 2008 at Lucknow, India. The Global Symposium is an annual event that has developed a worldwide movement through a global partnership with civil society and educational organizations to establish sustainable development, world unity, and world peace.

- Luxemburg: IVth International Forum - Globalization of Solidarity
The Inter-continental Network for the Promotion of Social Solidarity Economy, RIPESS, and the European Institute for Solidarity Economy, INESS, officially announce their next meeting, after those of Lima in 1997, in Quebec in 2001, and in Dakar in 2005. The theme adopted for the meeting is: Another economy exists: the innovations of social and solidarity economy. The meeting will take place from April 22 to 25, 2009 in Esch-sur-Alzette in Luxemburg. You are invited to register for the meeting on the Web site so you can participate in the preliminary discussions and receive information on a regular basis.
