Starting in 1998, several meetings marked the participation of intellectuals and political activists within the Alliance for a Responsible, Plural and United World. This participation aimed at promoting a democratic development of the region, and to build a network acting with the conviction that the challenges met in the Middle East and in the rest of the world are closely intertwined.
