Even though the city of Bombay has a vast water supply system, access to water remains subject to social status. • Forum of inhabitants experience sharing on urban violences / To face urban violences without violence: a major stake for the inhabitants of the cities of the 21st century.
    Yves Pedrazzini (IREC-DA/EPFL)
    -
    18 February 2005
The more violent the cities become and the less the instruments designed to face this negative dynamics seem adequate. Currently, the general tendency is to regulate the problem by considering some people, the “violent ones”, as responsible for an obvious total defeat of the social bond. The solutions found until now are inadequate because they are thought without associating the inhabitants of the popular districts. It is thus urgent to promote an alternative and nonpolice fight against the urban violence, which implies the totality of the inhabitants.
  • Forum of inhabitants experience sharing on urban violences: to begin the debate
    Yves Pedrazzini (IREC-DA/EPFL)
    -
    18 February 2005
Forum of inhabitants experience sharing on urban violences: to reconsider urban violences starting from the inhabitants. There are no local violences. Any local violence reflects the violence of a single world. To live the violence of a city, it is to live the violence of the whole world. To live its city without violence, it is a manner of acting against total violence; acting at the local level against violences of planning, while taking part in the emergence of a total and planetary alternative thought, by seeking the creation of an inhabitants voice at the same time common and multiple.
