The Marquee

To allow Lille's population to take advantage of the presence of the World Assembly in its city, a marquee was erected in front of the Museum of Fine Arts. All during the Assembly sessions, it hosted: an exhibition of paintings and illustrations by artists from the entire world on the theme of a responsible, plural and united world, organized by the magazine Caravan; an Internet venue where visitors could connect to the Alliance Web site; a presentation of the Proposals Papers and a selection of books published by the Editions Charles Léopold Mayer (in french) publishing house that were related to themes discussed by the Assembly. Unfortunately, the marquee was located at a rather eccentric spot and the local media did not provide much information, so the attendance was limited -- despite the interesting information provided. Nonetheless, around a thousand people visited the marquee during the week and a number of fruitful debates took place.
