Analysis : We Need to Learn So We Can Understand and Undertake

"We need to learn to learn, to understand and undertake." This sentence pronounced by one of the representatives of western Africa perfectly summarizes one of the topics that cut across all the workshops this week.
Before wanting to build a democracy, it is necessary to make education democratic. The problem needs to be approached from the ground. The more the younger generations are educated early to work for an equitable and transparent world, the more they will be able to participate in setting up democracy in the world.
Today's education doesn't allow this construction of the world. To be capable of meeting the challenges of the twenty-first century, the education system first has to be reviewed at several levels: education to the construction of peace, to the exercise of citizenship, to the preservation of our natural environment.
New education structures must therefore be set up at the local, but also the national and international levels.

"A Piece of Ethnology"

The Berber people are not a second-class people. In Morocco, Berber is not recognized by the constitution as an official language. The Moroccan representatives of the Alliance therefore committed themselves to defending the Berber cause along the Algerian example, which has recognized the Berber culture and language.
The Moroccan Berbers would like Berber to be integrated into the education system, they would like the local traditional cultures to be appreciated, and taking the example of the inhabitants of the Atlas, they intend to fight against the exploitation and exclusion of their people.

The Atlas Mountains are very rich in natural resources and the native population is depreciated by the population that lives in the plains. The latter exploits the resources of the mountains, whereas the Berbers are not allowed to do so.
For the Berber delegation, the natural resources and the beauty of the landscape offered by the mountains should not be confiscated by tourism. The Atlas is the original place of the Berber people: it should not be altered.
The life of a people is at stake.

"To Be in Debt Does Not Mean Having to Be Last in Line"

Indebtedness can have a devastating effect on the development of African societies. This is why the Africans have mobilized for the Alliance, along with other organizations, to put pressure on the former colonizing countries and new industrialized countries, to set up a system that doesn't make the situation worse with regard to the debt burden. As long as health and education are at risk, the African countries will not be able to pay their debt. If Africa is to exist along with the countries of the North, the latter must make an effort in democracy, so that all citizens of the world are equal.
