Information for the Next World Social Forum
Porto Alegre,
23-28 January, 2003

To all the groups
participating in the Drums for Peace Movement

Our next meeting will be held during the Worldwide Social Forum, in the city of Porto Alegre (RS – Brazil), from the 23th to 28th January.
Even if you cannot attend it, you will be able to create your own "Playing for Peace" event and to register your participation in the site www.tamtamforpeace.org so we will be able to create collectively an Intercultural Symphony for Peace.

The reply to Drums for Peace has been very different, rich and positive. Many groups have answered to its call: from students to professional musicians, passing by folklore groups, dancing groups, poets, social and cultural activists, groups of immigrants, neighborhoods and peoples of different cultures. Only in 2001, it registered the participation of 60 thousand people internationally.

Each group in their city, playing the "Drums for Peace", could make known their proposals for a more peaceful world, unveiling the desire of awakening people’s awareness for a more united and fair society.

The registration through the site www.tamtamforpeace.org became necessary so that we could follow the groups and have a record of the number of people involved in this worldwide action.

Now, we ask all those involved in this dynamics to send us their records, such as photos, music and videos of the presentations.

By doing so, each group will be able to show how its participation was and to value the next callings to the Drums for Peace through the CD ROM that will be produced. Also, this procedure will let us divulge the action and increase the number of people participating with us.

We also remind you that the movement is not limited to the week of
Drums for Peace. You can dedicate your activities to the Drums throughout the year, but do not forget to send some record.

Remember: Your participation builds the movement !
