CEPSI AS A MEMBER OF THE ALLIANCE

Since May of 1996, CEPSI is one of the 3.000 signing members of the Alliance for a Responsible, Plural and United World in over hundred countries. From Ecuador, CEPSI has experienced the alliance not only as a space for reflection but also as a participation proposal in a process of transformation and creation of links between the local and the global.

Since then, CEPSI has led the "Geocultural Group Ecuador", a space for reflection on issues related to Ecuador's reality and proposals of action with and from different social movements such as the union movement and the Indian movement. CEPSI organized the "First Meeting of Alternative Social Movements in Latin America" whose motto was "from new struggles to old utopias". The objective was to socialize and discuss local and regional strategies as alternatives to the neoliberalism, with the support of the alliance of social movements at a regional level. Alternatives were discussed and proposed with respect to: State, Democracy and Modernization in Latin America; Political Struggle and Social Movements: Internationalism and Globalization; Cultural Diversity and Interculturality; Multinational Capital, Labor and Solidarity Economy; and Our Utopias.

Additionally, CEPSI publishes "Claves", the newsletter of the Alliance for a Responsible, Plural and United World, in Latin American countries and Spain. This is another effort to socialize initiatives among Spanish-speaking countries.
