**ENGLISH**
(Une version francaise doit suivre un autre jour... je ne tiens plus
debout!)
Hello... I think I am still missing some messages that have been sent
(so forgive me if I seem to not be responding to something important),
but most of the pieces of my puzzle are back in place and I have finally
been able to catch up on most of my reading!
This brings me to an important point though, that is perhaps worth
reflecting upon: For some people, this discussion has taken on a speed
that is difficult to keep up with. I am reminded of the message that
Mira Chalal and Malika Hamidchi from Algeria sent us through the most
recent edition of Caravan, where they speak of being out of breath from
trying to keep up with the fast pace of communications, meetings, etc.
While it is important to prepare this meeting and to do it well and as
collectively as possible, it is also important to remember that this
group consists of people from different backgrounds, with different
rythms in terms of the time spent in front of the computer and on
alliance activities, etc.
Even as the "moderator" of this discussion (a role that I am starting to
put into question for myself), I have difficulty being able to keep up
with the messages on a day-to-day basis. Right now, I have sacrificed
some of my time for sleeping to "catch up" (which I really prefer not
having to do!) and I am sure that I am not the only person with this
difficulty.
For now, I would just like to suggest that we all make sure that we keep
a good balance between being efficient (getting done what needs to be
done in preparation for the meeting) and being too much in a hurry (and
leaving several people behind who will already be tired from running by
the time they reach Barcelona)...

Yes, summarizing what has been discussed so far is part of the task of
moderating that I have accepted to undertake. However, it cannot be my
priority for this week, unfortunately. If we can be patient, a summary
will be coming soon. (Or if someone is impatient or feels a need for a
summary more quickly than that, I have nothing against that person doing
a summary of where we are now him/herself!) No matter who it was done
by, it would certainly help and would require input and reminders from
others.

This seems like a task that I cannot undertake, unfortunately. Not only
would I have a difficult time at this point creating a "calendar" of
topics to discuss from a distance over the next two months, I would also
have a very difficult time following this calendar at such a high
speed. And again, I believe I am not the only one who would find this
too difficult. However, if other people feel the need to work in this
way (with one or two specific topics being covered every week), then
perhaps someone else could undertake this task and do the moderating (I
assure you that I say this with no bad feelings).

Would it be possible for a small committee to do this, giving only
resumes or asking for specific input when necessary from the rest of the
list?

I am afraid I don't understand this point. Is this something that you
are suggesting everyone do now, in writing, Marti? Or is it simply a
point that people can reflect upon, to be able to share with others at
the meeting. I must point out that it would take a considerable amount
of time and energy for everyone to try to do this by writing before the
meeting. My suggestion would be that we all come to the meeting
prepared to offer a more complete introduction of ourselves at that
point. (What do you think, Marti?)

(Good night and sweet dreams to all... although some of you are already
into the next day -- once again I am behind!!)
