Mon nom est Karine Boyer.
Nee a Grenoble (France) il y a 28 ans, j'habite depuis deux ans a Paris.
Je suis ravie d'etre l'animatrice du theme "Migrations et citoyennete
multiculturelle" afin de promouvoir les echanges et les debats d'idees en
vue de formuler une serie de propositions de changement.
Voici mon parcours academique et professionnel :
Ayant poursuivi des etudes de psychologie clinique jusqu'en licence a
Grenoble, je me suis ensuite specialisee en psychologie interculturelle.
J'ai decouvert cette discipline universitaire a Montreal durant mon annee
de maitrise. Je me suis particulierement interessee aux themes des
migrations et aux strategies identitaires des jeunes dits de seconde
generation (en France, enfants, nes dans ce pays, de parents etrangers).
Cette specialisation m'a permis de reflechir et de prendre en compte la
diversite culturelle dans l'explication des comportements humains et de
m'eloigner des discours incantatoires de la psychologie clinique sur
l'universalite des mecanismes psychiques.
Apres mon diplome de psychologue, j'ai decide de completer mon cursus par
une formation de troisieme cycle sur la problematique urbaine a l'Institut
des Sciences Politiques de Paris.
En effet, l'enjeu des rencontres multiculturelles se situe aujourd'hui au
sein des villes de plus en plus peuplees et cosmopolites. Dans ces grandes
metropoles, la reflexion est cruciale sur les moyens a creer pour gerer les
differences, afin de reussir a savoir vivre ensemble.
Mon parcours universitaire termine, j'ai desire m'investir dans le monde
associatif en travaillant au Centre International Pierre Mendes France
(centre organisateur de seminaires sur les defis de la gauche confrontee a
la mondialisation).
Vivant une periode ou la societe civile se constitue a la fois comme un
contre-pouvoir a l'ideologie dominante et comme une alternative aux
carences de volonte politique pour que les citoyens soient consultes sur
les choix de societes, le projet de construction d'une gouvernance
democratique europeenne qu'elle poursuit m'apparait comme fondamental.

My name is Karine Boyer.
Born in Grenoble (France) 28 years ago, I live since two years in Paris.
I am delighted to be the facilitator of the topic "Migrations and
multicultural citizenship" in order to promote the exchanges and the
discussions of ideas in order to formulate a set proposals for change.
Here is my academic and professional course:
Having pursued studies of clinical psychology until degree in Grenoble, I
specialized then in intercultural psychology. I discovered this academic
discipline in Montreal during my postgraduate year. I was especially
interested in the topics of the migrations and to the ethnic-based
strategies of the so-called second generation (in France, children, born in
this country, of foreign parents).
This specialization allowed me to think and to take into account the
cultural diversity in the explanation of human behavior and to move away
from the incantatory rhetorics of clinical psychology on the universality
of the psychic mechanisms.
After my psychologist's diploma, I decided to complete my curriculum by a
postgraduate training on urban issues in the institute of Political
sciences of Paris.
Indeed, the challenge of multiculturalism is today within the increasingly
populated and cosmopolitan cities. In these large metropolises, it is
crucial to think about the means to be created to manage differences, in
order to succeed in knowing how to live together.
My academic course finished, I wanted to get involved in the associative
world by working at the Centre International Pierre Mendes France (center
organizing seminars on the challenges of the left wing facing globalization).
Living a period where the civil society is constituted simultaneously as an
opposition force to the dominant ideology and as an alternative to the
deficiencies of political determination so that the citizens are consulted
on the choices of societies, the construction project of an European
democratic governance that it pursues appears to me as fundamental.
