As regards my own living situation here - I have to say that Loughros Pt is
full of farming families and their sheep and cattle. However,speaking
nationally, there is a constant drift from the land as farmers find they
cannot make enough money to give their families a modern way of life. In
the townland ( a cluster of houses in one area), in which we live there are
nine houses. Five of them are now let in the summer as holiday houses and
are empty in the winter. One is empty all the time and three are occupied
all year round. Of the 3 occupied houses, one belongs to an older man who
is a bachelor, another to an elderly couple with a thirty year old
daughter, and the third is our house ( myself and Thomas and our 2 sons, of
whom one wishes to be a farmer). In the past there was a large family
living in each house in the townland.

vie - je dois dire que Loughros Pt est plein de familles rurales et leurs
moutons et betail. Toutefois, en parlant nationalemment, il y a un depart
constant de la terre, les fermiers ne trouvant pas la possibilite de gagner
assez d'argent pour donner une vie moderne a leurs familles. Dans le
"townland" (le groupement des maisons dans une region) dans lequel nous
vivons il y a neuf maisons. Cinq d'entre eux servent des maisons d'ete et
sont vide en hiver. Une est vide tout le temps et trois sont occupes
pendant toute l'annee. Des 3 maisons occupees, une appartient a un homme
age qui est un celibataire, une autre a un couple assez age avec une fille
de trente ans, et la troisieme est notre maison (moi et Thomas et nos 2
fils, dont un souhaite etre fermier). Dans le passe il y avait des grandes
familles qui habitaient dans toutes les maison de townland.

tendencia constante de partida la tierra como los agricultores no
encuentran que pueden ganar bastante dinero para darles una vida moderna a
sus familias. En el "townland" (el grupamiento de casas en una area) en que
nosotros vivimos hay nueve casas. Cinco de ellas sirven de casas de
vacaciones durante el verano y estan vacias duranete el invierno. Una esta
vacia todo el tiempo y tres estan ocupados durante todo el ano. De las 3
casas ocupadas, uno pertenece a un hombre viejo y soltero, otra a una
pareja mayor con una hija de treinta anos, y la tercera es nuestra casa (yo
y Thomas y nuestros 2 hijos de quienes uno desea ser agricultor). En el
pasado vivia una familia grande en cada casa del "townland".
