Background and Development Process

Background

Different groups of the Alliance for a Responsible, Plural and United World (mainly thematic workshops, but also geocultural and socioprofessional groups) took up a joint initiative to set up and facilitate, in 2000 and 2001, forums that were open to participants from a variety of geographical and professional backgrounds, some face-to-face (meetings, workshops) and some virtual (e-forums), in order to draw up common perspectives and strategies in their field of work and action.

Development Process

The Proposal Papers are the result of a broad and open collective working process. They are not designed as a finished product, but rather are intended to be completed and amended in terms of everyone’s contributions and experiences. To facilitate a both rich and productive debate, the Alliance groups used tools and methods, in particular to work remotely through an e-forum, in which anyone could make occasional contributions or follow the discussions on a regular basis.
