Speech by Qin Hui at the closing session of the Lille Assembly, December 10, 2001.

This document deals with the developments involved in writing the Platform for a Responsible and United World and then the Charter of Human Responsibilities.

The document gives information on the European Continental Assembly (Romania 17-21 June 2001): the participants, topics, and working methodology and expected results.

In the framework of the 2000-2001 Alliance Assembly, five simultaneous continental meetings were organized in India, Tanzania, Romania, Ecuador and Lebanon. An informational and symbolic communication system was set up among the meetings: each was attended by representatives of the four other meetings, daily messages ("editorials") were sent to the other meetings to inform them of the work in progress, the collective dynamics, the context, and the Drums for Peace, which resounded in every meeting on June 21. Local journalists and media were also contacted.

This document is a model for a "information kit" developed for the case of the "Local Representatives" socioprofessional network to explain the nature, objectives, and operation of a network. It was sent to all the network facilitation teams to help them to formulate and to organize their essential information.

This document was drawn up on the basis of the the documents compiled for a meeting of the Alliance Workshop "Political Renewal," held in Brussels in 1998 on the theme of citizens conferences. Other Experience Reports from the DPH (Dialogue for the Progress of Humanity) data base have been added.

During the year 1998, a big consultation campaign among Allies on their vision of the 2000-1 Assembly was implemented. In parallel, discussions were held on how to "govern" the Alliance, leading to the election of an "International Facilitation Team" (IFT). The latter met for the first time in Barcelona, in September 1999. This document presents a report of the main decisions resulting from this meeting.
