Ying Yang (Gender Relations)Toward a Female/Male balancepropositions of the Yin Yang group
by Nadia Leila Aïssaoui .
Note on the VECAS thematic pole (Values, Education, Interculturel, Art, Science) for the preparation of the Alliance meetings of December 1997.
The Platform for a Responsible and United world evokes three big crises of which the humanity endures. An unbalanced relation between the North and the South, the injustice of the rich people towards the poor and the deterioration or the rupture of the link between the human beings and the nature. It also evokes a crisis of the relation between the individuals. What about the crisis of the relation between the men and the women? Because it is not evoked in the platform, several women lost interest of this text. Besides, the essential human potentialities that the "feminine faculties" represent have been extensively concealed. The Yin Yang workshop constituted itself on the basis of this questioning. It started by a compilation work of reflections and experiences, and by the networking of people interested by the integration of this question in the Alliance's dynamics. A decisive stage marked definitely these reflection's contours : the organization of a meeting in New Delhi (India) in February 1997, regrouping about fifteen men and fifteen women from different culture, professions and ages. It was about working on the female's and male's representation that everyone have according to the cultures and proposing first ways of change of the man/woman relationship. This synthetic note has been elaborated from the document about the New Delhi meeting. It overflies the points evoked during the meeting and constitutes a starting point of a collective reflection.
