Part Three :

Report on the Participatory Process Used for the Evaluation
and Future of the Alliance

EIFE and delibera.info-alliance e-forums, and Porto Alegre Meeting
March 2002 - April 2003

Introduction

For one year and through the Internet, thanks to innovative multilingual e-forum systems, more than 100 Allies from about 20 countries in 4 different continents, out of the 151 persons subscribed to the EIFE list, have shared views on the past and the future of the Alliance.
After pooling evaluations and proposals for a period of 6 months on the EIFE e-forum, we organized them into 12 texts to be submitted for appraisal and comments in a "delibera" forum.
The 12 texts (comprising 148 items), the 270 appraisals, and the 195 comments can be consulted on the Internet at . The experience resulted in 3,418 contributions from participants, including both appraisals and comments on the items.
To facilitate a summarized reading of the themes that were dealt with and of the measure of support that they obtained, we have produced an “interpretation” of the results for each text. As for any interpretation, the appraisal charts and the comments are available for individual reference and interpretation. They are provided in the Appendix and they can be consulted directly at the above-mentioned Web site).
We hope that this participatory process will serve as a reference for other processes of collective visualization and consensus building and that its results will contribute to clarify the new stage of the Alliance.
Our thanks to all those who participated by contributing their opinions, proposals, appraisals, and comments. Our thanks, too, to the FPH for its support, which allowed us to organize, to experiment, and to facilitate this process.
